Kathy’s interest in yoga started early in life when she discovered that within the sanctuary of yoga one is free to be themself. Through the non-competitiveness that is innate to yoga, Kathy discovered a safe haven to explore while respecting her personal limits.
Yoga is a solitary activity within a community, and Kathy has always felt that as a teacher, it is her role to guide students to the space that can awaken their creative energy and unleash their spiritual light. With dedication to her own personal practice, she has discovered Yoga to be essential for maintaining physical health, emotional well-being and spiritual awakening.
In 2010, after practicing yoga for more than 10 years, Kathy embarked on her initial teacher training at Rama Lotus in Ottawa. Subsequent certifications were later earned in Yin Yoga, Reiki, Thai Yoga Massage, Yoga for Seniors, and therapeutic Yoga specific to serving those working through or recovering from cancer.
In 2013, Kathy merged her passion for travel and love of Yoga and traveled to Rishikesh, India to live in an ashram and study with her beloved Guru, Yogrishi Vishvketu, as well as teachers Gayatri (Gayle) Poapst and Kamalika (Kat) Mills. While there, certifications were earned in Prenatal, Restorative, Kundalini, and Akhanda Yoga, as well as many Pranayama (breathing) and meditation techniques. She also earned her Yoga Lifestyle Coaching certification with Prem (Robin) Campbell.
Throughout this journey, she found the faith and spiritual connection that was missing in her life. Kathy is proud to bring to life her calling to create a community where anyone is welcome to explore Yoga in safe and welcoming classes. She encourages students to shed old stories they have been told about themselves, and reconnect with the unconditioned self.
Through asana, pranayama and meditation practice, one is given the opportunity to quiet the mind, create space to move inward, and to discover their true self. With self-realization, we operate from a higher energetic vibration and live every moment to its fullest, with freedom to express our true nature. Kathy invites everyone to shed the stories they’ve been told and become healthier, happier and fearless spiritual beings.
